300 acres in a couple of hours, and it’s 90 degrees and windy on that side of the hill. Mandatory evacuations already for parts of Santa Margarita. Lots of fuel because everything grew like hell after all the rain, but it’s dry already. No good.

Nothing scarier than forest fires, stay safe. Looks like it’s going to be a crazy fire season in the west, saw tons of crews heading south to Utah when I was in Wyoming a few days ago.

Yeah. No worries for me, but I have friends in that area, worried about them.

Yeah, I have a bad feeling about this year. Loads of fuel on the ground because everything that wasn’t already dead from the drought grew like crazy after all the rain, now it’s dry, hot and windy again.

No danger for me, but I’m worried about friends in that area.

Hoping for the best, must be crazy living somewhere where forest fires are common.

Also...Santa Margarita? Thats a place? Cool

They do happen everywhere around here, just kind of part of life. Where I live and work aren’t in any particular danger (fingers crossed), but the more hilly and rural areas are, there’s lot of open grassland studded with oaks, manzanita, etc.

Santa Margarita is a really funky tiny town just north of San Luis Obispo, it feels like going back in time. The fire jumped to 1200 acres overnight, but sounds like it’s getting under control. Cooler and overcast now, so that helps.

Oh yeah, safety was never a concern, just too much going on.
